The most dangerous of the UK Net censorship industry. Initially funded by Internet millionaire Peter Dawes to the tune of £500,000 this self-regulatory body which removed 2000 items from the Net last year because they were potentially illegal. The IWF promotes the use of ratings schemes on the Internet.

In Dec. 2008 a Wikipedia article that had to do with a album released by The Scorpions, a German rock band, was put on the blacklist by IWF. The IWF stated that the album cover contained a "potentially illegal indecent image of a child under 18". The decision was reversed by the IWF after four days of blocking.
